For practical purposes, flesh color is still the best color for underwear, but when you're out to look sexy, bright colors are best. Most lingerie stores sell black and white, but the sexiest plain colors are the jewel shades, brilliant sapphire blue, and stunning scarlet. This is good news; though most women avoid wearing red, it suits almost everyone and like all strong colors, has a distinct effect on the wearer. If you're looking to feel a little more bold than usual, wearing red is a good way to do it.

Hot pink is often sold as a 'sexy' color, but while some brunette's can pull it off, It's a shade which suits few women. If you're blond it will almost certainly overpower your delicate coloring.

But there's no reason to stick to plain colors. While floral prints and novelty patterns are not the ideal garb for passion filled weekends, animal prints may bring out the beast in both of you. From green tinged snakeskin to the black-and-white of zebra you'll find an animal print in a color combination you like, and which will make you look good. And if you think animal prints tend to look tacky, keep looking, there are sophisticated patterns around.

It's not all about color, the feel and sheen of the fabric is important. And it's not all about the fabric. You need to feel good, to know that you look good in the garment, so if in doubt, don't pick a color because it's thought of as sexy, pick a color which you know you look good in. The extra confidence it gives you will be more effective than the brightest red or the hottest pink.

If the look you're seeking is one of European allure, there's nothing better than black lace. Add a touch of pale pink for Parisienne elegance, it's a combination that drives some men wild, sweetly feminine, untouchably sophisticated and irresistibly sexy. What more could any man want?
